    He was commissioned an ensign on 15 Sep 1917 in the United States Navy Reserve. He was later promoted to lieutenant during WWI. He returned to reserve status on 13 Dec 1918.

    On 1 Dec 1941, he was recalled to active duty. During WWII he was promoted to the rank of commander. He served with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) and rose to the rank of captain.

    Biographical Information 16 Sep 1920 
    At 12:01 a horse wagon loaded with dynamite and cast iron weights and triggered by a timer exploded. 30 people died immediately, another eight died would later of wounds. Junius Spencer Morgan III was one of the hundreds of wounded that would survive. The bombing was thought to be the work of Italian anarchists but, the case was never solved. It was the deadliest terrorist attack in the United States to that date,
