"The Groton Avery Clan" by Elroy McKendree Avery and Catherine Hitchcock Tilden Avery. Self published in Boston, Massachusetts 1912. A two volume set chronicling the descendants of Captain James Avery who settled in New London, Connecticut. Note: The Avery Clan books skip far too many numbers that simple error could account for. Perhaps this indicates there was a larger body of work that was slimmed down for publication.
Predating the Avery Clan books was "The Averys of Groton: genealogical and biographical" by Homer De Lois Sweet. It makes a number of errors or, at best includes relationships that have not been proven. It is not practical or, necessary to detail it here. Since it is frequently mentioned in the Avery Clan books it is available here as a download.
The book "The Groton Averys Christopher and James, the founders of the family" by Elroy McKendree Avery and Catherine Hitchcock Tilden Avery supplied additional information about individuals #1 & 2 so it is also available here.
