There is no direct evidence of his immigration. However, he was admitted an inhabitant of the Island of Aquidneck (at Portsmouth) on January 24, 1638 and, again on February 21, 1638. He soon left Portsmouth for Newport, newly founded by his brother, John Clarke. He was admitted an inhabitant and made a freeman of Newport on December 17, 1639. |
