Colt Peacemaker. The six-gun of the wild wild west. The 1873 Colt Single Action Army revolver, known as the "Peacemaker," was the favorite sidearm of gunmen on both sides of the law. It gained the nickname “The Gun That Won The West” when the showman and bison hunter Buffalo Bill, traveled around telling stories about the gun’s accuracy.
Far beyond that General George Patton carried one with a nickel finish and ivory grip during the Second World War. The production of the Peacemaker ceased after the World War II. It was reintroduced in 1956. The second wave of popularity arose due to being seen in the hands of John Wayne and others on the "silver screen". it is still being produced. |
