  	On this day Charles became the unintended victim of a shooter who was intent on murdering his wife. Charles was shot through the lungs and the man then killed his wife. Charles recovered enough to, with the help of others subdue the shooter. The woman died. Charles recovered. After he was found guilty of murder the shooter was hanged.
