  		John Avery House Purchased from Joshua Parke by Captain John Avery in 1755. When he died the house was left to John Jr. John Jr. farmed the land and when health issues restricted that he worked there as a silversmith. When Jr, died he left the house and land to his children. Eventually the property came to Ulysses Avery. Ulysses farmed the homestead until his death in 1884. When his widow, Lucy Anne sold the farm, the farm had been in the Avery family a total of 139 years (1755 – 1894).
