In March 1944, he was promoted to major general. He was promoted to lieutenant general in March 1945. In December 1942 he was promoted to brigadier general. On October 1, 1947, he was promoted to the rank of general.
On October 4, 1958, the missile and space base at Camp Cooke in Lompoc, California, was renamed Vandenberg Air Force Base in his honor. In 2021 it was redesignated Vandenberg Space Force Base in 2021. |
