Myron served on the USS Cyclops. It was built to haul great amounts of coal and to refuel other ships. By the close of WWI most ships were now burning oil so, on March 4, 1918 it was carrying 10,800 tons of manganese ore to be used in manufacturing munitions. It was making it's way from Brazil to Baltimore.

It was in the are known as the Bermuda Triangle when it vanished along with all 306 people aboard it. No distress call was ever sent and, no wreckage was ever found. The Navy declared it lost and June 14, 1918 was designated as the date of death for all aboard.

In the vacuum of an official explanation theories have been postulated that range from mutiny to a giant octopus. The Cyclops had three sister ships. One was attacked by the Japanese in WWII. Two were lost without a trace while carrying ore. The simplest explanation was the ships were not suited to carrying ore which lead to structural failure.

Even though there are simpler explanations the legend of the Bermuda Triangle and the supernatural are so much a part of pop culture that in the 2006 movie Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy! When our heroes enter the heart of the Bermuda Triangle they cross paths with the Cyclops.
