- A dismembered torso was found stuffed in a sack in an Idaho cave in 1979. More of remains discovered in 1991 in the same cave. The head has not been found. The body was positively identified in 2019 with the help of the DNA Doe Project, which noted that the identification was the oldest one they had ever made. The positive identification was made using forensic genealogy.

Joseph was a bootlegger who was accused of murdering his wife with an axe. He broke out of Jail and vanished. In 1991 a family looking for arrowheads found dismembered human remains in a cave. In 2019 using DNA and forensic genealogy the body was determined to be Joseph. |
