His father started the Armour Meat Company in Chicago in 1863. When he died J Ogden took over the company. He was not a very good business man and the company did poorly under his leadership. His estate in Lake Forest, Illinois was known as "Mellody Farm".
Today what is left of the open land survives as the Mellody Farm Nature Preserve. |
