Reagan was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Officers' Reserve Corps. Due to poor eyesight he was classified for limited service and was not eligible for overseas deployment. He as assigned as a transportation officer.
he transferred to the Army Air Corps in 1942. There he served in public relations, the Motion Picture Unit and, campaigned for the sale of war bonds. He was responsible for producing over 400 training films. Before he was discharged on December 9, 1945 he had been promoted to captain. |

Reagan Assassination Attempt. The scene March 30, 1981 after shots were fired by John Hinckley Jr.. DC police officer Thomas Delahanty was shot in the back. His injury forced him to retire. Secret Service agent Tim McCarthy took a bullet that would have hit the President and recovered. White House Press Secretary, James Brady was hit in the head and paralyzed. When he passed in 2014 his death was ruled a homicide as a result of the wound he suffered that day. President Reagan's wound punctured his lung. He was close to death when he reached the hospital but, he made a recovery. |
