    Biographical Information The tug "Cynthia II,"ran the Associated Press dispatch in the Cuban campaign of the Spanish-American war. Her captain was Van Brunt Avery. During the siege of Santiago and battles San Juan Hill, El Caney, etc., she was kept busy carrying press dispatches to the nearest cable. She was often under fire, and on one occasion was attacked by the U.S. steamer "Potomac," having been mistaken for a Spanish boat.
