  Occupation	He began making plows in 1825 at a small location in Virginia. In 1847 he built a factory in Louisville, Kentucky. The Civil War stopped his business. His factory was used by the government as a hospital. After the war he rebuilt the business as B F Avery & Sons. The business lasted until 1951 when it was sold to the Minneapolis Moline Tractor Company.
