  	Officer in the Alabama & Mississippi Confederate Volunteers. He was captured when his regiment surrendered on April 8, 1862. He was held at the Union prison camp at Johnson's Island. In August 27, 1862 he was returned as part of a prisoner exchange.

  		Johnson's Island. Johnson's Island is an island in Lake Erie, about 3 miles from the city of Sandusky, Ohio. During the Civil War it was the site of a Union prison camp. After the war it was abandoned. Little exists there now that reflects it's past except for the Confederate cemetery.
