    A post card depicting the Ebenezer Avery House. It was to this house the British brought the wounded after the Fort Griswold Massacre. In 1973-1975 the house was moved and restored. It was relocated from it's original location to the Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park.

    The Fort Griswold Massacre
    The Fort Griswold Massacre (17)
    The fort Griswold Battle was one of the last of the American Revolution. It occurred September 6, 1781 in a fort by the town of Groton, Connecticut. Eighty-eight brave men lost their lives. Most of them were slaughtered after the fort was surrendered. It was particularly costly to the Avery family which took a huge blow.
