  Also Known As	The maiden name of Mrs. Grace Ballard cannot be definitively proven. To my knowledge no one has found a primary record proving what it was. There is however a fair amount of circumstantial evidence that she was Grace Berwick, daughter of Thomas and Anne (nee Blount). All the of the individuals were in Andover MA at the same time. It was a very small town, at the time the entire Massachusetts Bay and Plymouth colonies had a population of less than a thousand. All of the individuals were the right ages with the right names. Nothing has to be forced to fit and nothing in the data disproves the connection. Further, no primary data has been found that refutes the connection. Evidence does prove these families were in close contact. William & Grace's daughter, Elizabeth, married Anne Blount's nephew, William Blunt, and William & Grace's great-grandson, Thomas Abbott, married Lydia Blunt. There are no records of another Grace that William could have married. There are no records that Grace Berwick married someone else. If no primary evidence ever surfaces it is sure to remain a controversy.
