- Mr. Brigham graduated A. M., University of Vermont in 1854. He was admitted to the Lamoille County bar in 1857. He practiced five years in Bakersfield, then formed the law partnership of Brigham & Waterman, later Brigham & McFarland in Hyde Park, where he continued to reside and practice. He served in the Legislature of Vermont in 1867 and 1868 and was a leading spirit in securing the charter for the Lamoille Valley Division of the Portland & Ogdensburg Rail Road. He Was the first president of the Lamoille Valley RR continuing in this position for 10 years. He was prominent in the Democratic party in Vermont, and candidate for Lieut. Gov., U.S. Senator, etc. He was president of the Lamoille Central Academy for 25 years; vice-president of the Vermont Bar Assn. and trustee of the University of Vermont from 1875-'81.
