- Private Charles R. Burmeister was born February 1, 1916, and was a member of the 384th Bomb Group, 547th Bomb Squadron. His next of kin were his mother, Mrs. Clarence E. Searle, and his sister, Francis Dent. He was from Rock Island, Illinois.
On May 7, 1944, he was killed due to a skull fracture when thrown from a weapons carrier, probably at Grafton-Underwood.
He is buried in the Rock Island National Cemetery at Rock Island, Illinois.
