| CeCe Bibby Cece was an employee for Chrysler Corporation, which was a sub contractor for NASA. She was the only woman artist in the graphics department at Cape Canaveral. Her claim to fame came when Astronaut John Glenn recruited her to paint the Friendship 7 logo on his space capsule. She went on to paint the logos for Scott Carpenter's "Aurora 7" and Wally Schirra's "Sigma 7" capsules.
To do her job, Bibby became the first and only woman to ascend the Mercury launch gantry and go inside the "white room" that surrounded the vehicle. |

| Cece Bibby. Cece Bibby is standing by a U-2 spy plane. The pilots hated it because it always seemed to be having mechanical problems so they got Cece to paint this lemon logo on it.
Every time the plane was sent back to the Lockheed corporation for repair they would fix the problem and paint over the artwork. Every time the plane was returned to the squadron the pilots would get her to repaint it. |
