He was raised on a California horse ranch. At the age of 17 he made his big screen debut in the movie "The Goonies". He's done extensive theater, TV, and movie acting since then.

Diane was acting from a very young age and made her stage debut at the age of six. Her work in acclaimed theater productions led to her being called to Hollywood. She was 13 when she was cast in the 1979 film A Little Romance, opposite Sir Laurence Olivier. After her well-received debut, Diane found herself on magazine covers all over the world, including "Time", which declared her the "new young acting sensation". Her career to follow did not live up to that hype. It was the blockbuster hit “The Perfect Storm” that finally made Diane Lane the household name that she always should have been.
