As Justice of the Peace of Hanover, Grafton, New Hampshire Eleazar conveyed information about the enemy to General George Washington. Founder and first President of Dartmouth College, NH.
The town of Wheelock is named in his honor. It is located in Caledonia County, Vermont.
During World War II a Liberty ship was named for Rev. Wheelock. This was a C-2 cargo ship outfitted to carry 550 troops. It participated in the Normandy Invasion where it was shell damaged. it was Scrapped in 1964 at Philadelphia.
