On his way to the launch pad and the flight that would make him America's first astronaut he is said to have said; “You should have courage and the right blood pressure if you want to succeed as an astronaut. And four legs … You know, they really wanted to send a dog, but they decided that would be too cruel.”

The service dog that assisted President George Herbert Walker Bush in the final months of his life laying in front of his casket. He was named after American airline captain Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III who saved US Airways Flight 1549 by landing in the Hudson River after both engines were disabled by a bird strike. Sully will go on to serve other disabled vets.
