He served aboard USS Argus. She was captured by the British on August 14, 1813. During the battle he sustained a leg injury which required amputation. He was imprisoned for 18 months, at Ashburton, England.
Later he commanded the USS Alligator. He was sent to the West Indies to fight pirates. He died while attacking three pirate vessels in 1822. |
