  	While Helen was not in the military she helped the war effort by becoming a canteen worker for the YMCA. The YMCA ran a number of "huts" throughout France and England. Their purpose could be likened to a current day USO facility.

  		The Eagle Hut The Eagle Hut was the largest of the YMCA's huts. It was located in London. St. Mary le Strand church can be seen in the background. As it was their flagship operation it is likely Helen spent time there.
