Name Lifespan Where Born John HENIFF abt 1835-1901-1929 Ireland Additional Notes Migration Steps John and Julia Heniff immigrated to the USA in 1847 during the Famine along with John's mother Julia. According to the US Federal Census 1860, they resided in Troy, IL with two children Mary A 3, and John 2. They had two more children in Illinois, Edward J. born 1863 and Thomas F. born 1864. Sometime after 1864 they settled in Grant Township, Crawford County, KS on a farm which they owned (Per US Federal Census 1880). Mary, Edward and John never married and stayed on the farm. John married Mary C. Hanna(Hannah) on August 24, 1885 in Crawford, KS. Mary was born in Ireland and immigrated in 1882 at age 18(US Fedaral Census 1900). Between 1888-1890, they returned to John's birthplace of IL. They had seven children: Edward J. born 1886 in KS, married Helen (8 children), Charles born 1888 in KS, married Margaret Schaab born 1889 in IL (8 chidren), John Michael born 1890 in IL, married Theresa born 1892 (7 children), Alice born 1892 in IL, married Eddye Kendall (4 children), Ellen born 1894, married George Atherton (2 children), Agnes born 1894 in IL, married 2 times to Touts and Godin(2 children), and William Vincent born 1901 in IL, married Mary Rita O'Brien born 1901 (3 children). Ownership and laborers of Globe Lumber and Tri Star Lumber in the city of Chicago, IL was how the Heniff brothers and their sister's spouses made their living.to Troy, Will County, IL in abt 1860
