In 1843, he entered the grocery and produce business in Boston; 1849-'57 was supt. of Newton's Shoe Factory, also in the lumber business; 1858, manufacturer of shoes, later taking in his sons John and Horace under the firm name of George B. Brigham & Sons. Held town offices and was Representative, 1887; was chosen one of the Committee for publishing the town history; very active in the Baptist Church.
