• Notes

  Samuel was named after Harriet Fay's grandfather, Samuel Prescott Phillips Fay. He attended St George's school in Newport RI (1908-1913). He enrolled in Yale University in 1913. After Graduation he served as a field artillery captain with the American Expeditionary Forces (1917-1919). During WWI he received intelligence training at Verdum France. In 1952 he was elected to the Senate. He served until January 1963.
